The 42BELOW™ Month of Street Art kicked off on August 28th with FUTURESHOCK, the first of two shows exhibited at 42BELOW™ Space in Central Auckland. Gallery goers from far and wide gathered at the opening shindig to view the display of works from three internationally renowned stencil artists. Logan Hicks brought his incredible multi-layered stencils of cityscapes and subways all the way from New York, and was joined by HA-HA and Vexta, both acclaimed Australian artists and innovators of the Melbourne stencil movement. Images of streets, skulls, skeletons and a series of staunch Tama Iti’s bore witness to the evenings antics.

Part Two of the 42BELOW™ Month of Street Art, Public Access opened on September 12th. For the third year running, local street art crew 'Cut Collective,' together with Peepshow, Kool and Gasp put on a mind-blowing show. Packed with quality work, the exhibition featured everything from customised tea towels to painted ukuleles, prints, paintings and giant vodka bottles. Just half an hour after the doors opened a queue formed out the front door, the gallery packed to legal capacity. Cocktails spiked with 42BELOW™ vodka flowed freely throughout the evening, accompanied by a steady set of beats from DJ Junior.

Kick yourself hard if you missed it but don't slit those wrists just yet. The show is on until September 27th at 42BELOW™ Space on Customs St - kinda opposite Showgirls - you know where don't you. It's open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am till 6pm. Get down and see it or you'll regret it for the rest of your life.
