In Auckland this evening, looking for some fresh beats and the gig guides are doing nothing to inspire you? Head down to Rakinos and check out The BC, with support from TDK & Skeme.
The BC are an unsigned hip hop group based in Wellington, New Zealand. The BC’s music has been described as infectious and funky with a tip of the hat to rock, soul and dance music.
With a radio friendly single entitled Outta Reach, The BC started 2010 performing to rapturous applause at the Cuba Street Night Market, and have followed that by sharing the stage with NZ hip hop pioneers Upper Hutt Posse and King Kapisi at San Francisco Bathhouse. The BC also host a monthly show entitled Swagger Planet at different venues around Wellington, showcasing other up-and-coming artists as well as to support the success of Outta Reach.
Formed in 2008, the group is composed of vocalists and lyricists Manic D, Masala, PBD, Gooda and Kaivai. Gooda and Kaivai also produce the majority of The BC’s repetoire. Moving forward The BC plan to tour the North Island in June / July promoting Outta Reach and increasing their fan base, and aim to be performing at major events and festivals going into 2011.
